Program co-chairs:
Daniel M. Kowalski, program co-chair
Mr. Kowalski joined the firm of Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC in 1996 after several years of practice with his own Colorado law firm. His practice focuses on immigration, emphasizing Immigration Court hearings, administrative appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, and federal court litigation.
Kate Laner, program co-chair
Ms. Laner is the Co-Legal Director of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) in Seattle. She received her J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, U.C. Berkeley, in 1990. NWIRP is a non-profit legal services office committed to advancing and defending the rights of low-income immigrants and refugees in Washington State.

Ann E. Benson
Ms. Benson has been practicing immigration law since 1991. She is currently the Director Attorney for the Washington Defenders Immigration Project (WDIP), a project of the Washington Defender Association. WDIP provides technical assistance concerning the immigration consequences of criminal conduct to defenders representing non-citizens in criminal proceedings. Prior to this, Ms. Benson was a supervising attorney at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project in Seattle where she represented clients before the INS, the Immigration Courts, the Federal District and Circuit Courts.
Carol I. Edward
Ms. Edward founded her own law firm in 1986, and limits her practice to immigration matters. She received her J.D. from Seattle University in 1984. Her practice covers all aspects of immigration law, including business matters, citizenship issues, administrative and federal litigation, asylum and family visas.
